Whilst we obviously have never doubted the quality of the Austrian wines we import it is always nice to have a little external validation.
Top Austrian wine magazine Falstaff published the results of their "2010 Gruner Veltliner Grand Prix" in their May edition (we put our hands up to having fallen behind with our reading of foreign language wine magazines). We are happy, but not surprised, to note that both Johann Donabaum's Spitzer Point Federspiel (£13.35) and Bernhard Ott's Fass 4 (£14.95) were both awarded 5 stars.
Had the competition not restricted itself to wines of 13% or less alcohol it seems a pretty safe bet that Bernhard and Johann's top wines would also have made an appearance.
Yup, we’re going all Teutonic for the month of April with tastings (both in-store and virtual), a smashing and stupidly discounted “anything but Riesling” mixed case of Germanic joy and a whopping 10% discount off all German wines throughout the month.
10 % discount you say……?
Yup, this is the simple bit – 10% discount on all German wines throughout April – no minimum quantity.
