Michel Lafarge and his son, Frédéric, have around 10 hectares of vines including some of the finest sites which produce some of the greatest wines to herald from Volnay in Burgundy, with an emphasis being placed on the respect for the terrior. Their attendance to biodynamic farming puts their vineyards at the forefront of viticultural practices, which can be visually seen by the presence of their team of hens who roam the vineyards eating any undesirable little pests who might threaten the crop. The wines are handled as little as possible with only a few racking’s, a light fining and minimal filtration. Very little new oak is used, the majority being barrels of up to 5 years old. All of these practices cumulate in harmonious wines which are fragrant and complex and inherently Volnay.
