Our first appointment was with Nicolas Potel at 5.00 p.m. on the Tuesday evening and so, casting aside any considerations of personal wellbeing, alarms were set for 3.30 a.m., tea was guzzled, breakfast taken and by 4.45 we were on the road.

Awesome tasting with Nicolas Potel this evening. In spite of the reputation that 2013 has in some quarters there were some brilliant examples of classic Burgundy on show. Montagny 1er cru, Gevrey Chambertin Combettes and Chambolle Musigny showed very well whilst the Domaine Roche Bellene wines were uniformly excellent. Off to bed now.
