Burning Soul Brewery.
We are very pleased to be stocking some of Birmingham's newest craft Beers from local brewery Burning Soul. Having first acquired brewing equipment back in 2014, this is not a spur of the moment decision for Chris & Rich, the big delay has been finding somewhere suitable to brew (anyone familiar with bio-disc water filtration?). Finally moving into Two Towers' old Mott St unit (Towers are now behind their pub- The Gunmakers Arms) at the tail end of last year, Chris and Rich are now settled in with a lovely taproom (Friday 4-8pm, Sat 1-8pm) and have started bottling some of their finest creations. Determined to produce expertly crafted beer, they trial every beer in the taproom before commencing a bottling brew.
We have their first two bottled beers- Forerunner 6%, a pale ale with citrus hoppiness and a light malty biscuit base; and Coconut Porter 7% a chocolaty porter brewed with fresh coconut and Sorachi Ace hops. Both are entirely unfined and unfiltered, instead relying on conical fermentation tanks (well done ebay apparently) and a longer conditioning time before bottling to remove some of the haze and sediment.
Pop down to try Birmingham's newest brewery, and more beers and stuff from Rock'n'Roll should arrive at some point too...
You really should have been there………………
There are tastings and then there are tastings and last month we served up the most phenomenal Italian Masterclass in the company of Michael Palij, Master of Wine, who steered us through some of his most recent discoveries (notably a Sardinian quartet which provided all the evidence you need of the revolution taking place in the island’s vineyards and cellars).
