Its a gloomy, wet Tuesday afternoon, Mark and I are faced with gloomy, wet bike rides home and to cap it all tomorrow is budget day. What joys and delights might Mr Darling have in mind to put a song in the hearts of the overtaxed wine drinker? The current thinking is that excise duties will increase by somewhere between 5 - 10% which would mean price increases of .10p - 20p per bottle.
On a more positive note, for anyone following the progress of the new entrance to Snow Hill Station which is to be our new next door neighbour and has been in construction for the past 4, yes 4 years, I can report that 2 men with clipboards were spotted venturing inside this morning. We can scarcely control our excitement!
Got some interesting new Riojas to look at over the next few days - I'll report back after the tasting.
Chris
You really should have been there………………
There are tastings and then there are tastings and last month we served up the most phenomenal Italian Masterclass in the company of Michael Palij, Master of Wine, who steered us through some of his most recent discoveries (notably a Sardinian quartet which provided all the evidence you need of the revolution taking place in the island’s vineyards and cellars).
