I'm sure it was much easier for Captain Kirk. Tania and I have given ourselves 5 days to unearth some new wines from Marcillac, Cahors and Gaillac , negotiate some deals and come back with sufficient stock to satisfy our thirsty tasters at next Wednesday's tasting.
To this end, we left work at 5 yesterday afternoon for the drive down to Portsmouth, caught the overnight crossing and were on the road at 7.00 this morning for the nine and a half hour drive down to Marcillac where we are now encamped. (I kid you not, look at the pictures).
Long day of driving and tasting tomorrow- I hope to report back with news of warp factor intensity.
You really should have been there………………
There are tastings and then there are tastings and last month we served up the most phenomenal Italian Masterclass in the company of Michael Palij, Master of Wine, who steered us through some of his most recent discoveries (notably a Sardinian quartet which provided all the evidence you need of the revolution taking place in the island’s vineyards and cellars).
