We have a limited parcel of Château Barde-Haut Saint-Émilion Grand Cru 2016 available.
Château Barde-Haut sits to the east of Saint-Émilion, near the famed Château Pavie. Since 2000 it has been owned by Sylviane Garcin-Cathiard — part of the family behind Château Smith Haut Lafitte — and is now in the capable hands of her daughter, winemaker Hélène Garcin, and her husband, viticulturalist Paul Léveque.
Over the past two decades, they have invested heavily in the vineyards, winery, and château itself, with a clear focus on sustainability and environmental responsibility. These efforts were recognised in 2012 when Barde-Haut was promoted to Grand Cru Classé, a status it retained in the 2022 reclassification.
Bordeaux as a whole is facing a tricky moment: recent en primeur campaigns have felt overpriced, leaving both merchants and drinkers somewhat unenthusiastic. As a result, several châteaux have begun releasing library vintages direct from their cellars — often at notably attractive prices.
This is one such release. The 2016 Barde-Haut was widely praised on release, earning numerous 90+ point reviews, and we’re delighted to offer it well below its original en primeur price (around £50), now available at £36.95 per bottle.

I wrote to my MP recently.
“Why did you do that, Chris”
“Call it my sense of duty. Let me put you in the picture.”
You really should have been there………………
There are tastings and then there are tastings and last month we served up the most phenomenal Italian Masterclass in the company of Michael Palij, Master of Wine, who steered us through some of his most recent discoveries (notably a Sardinian quartet which provided all the evidence you need of the revolution taking place in the island’s vineyards and cellars).
