Tasting Note

Located at Panzano in Chianti, in Tuscany, an hour’s drive from Florence, Tenuta Casenuove covers an area of 105 hectares, spread overa succession of hills and valleys. This little-known part of Tuscany is an area of steep, wild terrain, beloved of cycle tourists and ramblers. Its numerous streams, its forests and its vines form a protected bucolic environment

Controlled-temperature vinification in raw concrete tanks guarantees stability in the wine’s first stage. Maceration lasts for up to a month, with pumping over and racking to extract and purify. The wine then ages for 12 months in a mix of large Slavonian oak casks, new and old barriques and raw concrete tanks. Once in the bottle, the wine is left to mature for 24 months.

Boasting an impressive pedigree, this elegant, intensely ruby-red Sangiovese varietal presents a rich, multi-faceted nose with hints of violets amidst ripe red and black fruit notes. The sip is full, enveloping and elegant. The acidity that characterizes the very best Sangiovese wines ensures longevity and helps to keep alive the memory of the wine on the palate.
