Graham's Port Bond

Graham's Port Bond

Although Vintage Port is one of life’s great treasures, it’s only declared about 3 times a decade, and the declaration is 2 years after the vintage. This makes it difficult giving it as a traditional Christening gift. We can now offer the solution- A Graham’s Port Bond.

We can offer bonds for 2016 and 2017 currently, and upon purchase the recipient will receive a rather spiffing certificate that guarantees the bearer either 1 bottle of full Vintage Port upon release (about 18 months later), or if Graham's don't declare, 2 bottles of Quinta dos Malvedos upon their release (which could well be several years later). When the Port is available Graham’s will contact you to arrange delivery directly. We can also offer bonds for cases of 6 bottles as well. Please contact Ed@connollyswine.co.uk for more information, or to arrange purchase.

Diary of a Wine Merchant: The Covid Years – Part II
Diary of a Wine Merchant: The Covid Years – Part II

April 16, 2021

12 months ago, shortly after the destructive reality of Covid became evident, I wrote a piece for a trade magazine (recently uploaded to our blog here…) in which I opened with the very real sense of helplessness and fear which I am sure I shared with the vast majority of the planet. At the time, it seemed almost like staring into a black hole, knowing that you had to take the next step but blind to whatever lay below. I remember thinking (and saying to anyone prepared to listen) that this was “our generation’s war,” we’d never experienced anything approaching global conflict and in 2020 we’d reached payback time, only to be faced with an adversary that responded neither to bombs nor white flags (nor bleach). Frightened for ourselves, for our friends and families and frightened for businesses and careers that we’d spent lifetimes developing, all we could do, it seemed, was to keep washing our hands and hope for the best.
