Verdicchio di Matelica is grown inland at altitude, giving a leaner, more mineral-driven style than its coastal counterpart. La Monacesca farms organically on clay-limestone soils, producing a wine of clarity, grip and ageing potential. Fermentation is in stainless steel, followed by lees contact to build texture. Aromas of green apple, lime peel, fennel and crushed stone rise from the glass. The palate is dry and tightly wound, with high acidity and a flinty, savoury finish. Great with seafood, young cheeses or risotto primavera. A serious and focused Verdicchio with a long, elegant line
