This is the first production of Orange wine from Domaine des Tourelles. Winemaker Faouzi Issa has been mentored by a couple of Georgian winemakers who have been teaching him their methods of producing Amber wines.
The native Merweh grapes come from 150 year old vines which grow wild in the mountains of Lebanon. Fermentation takes place in Terracotta jars where the wine spends 4 months on skins. Light amber in color. Rich in flowers, orange blossoms, jasmine, and tea on the nose. On the palate we can discern some smooth elegant tannins that come from the maceration with the skin, while displaying a taste of apricot, pears, and hints of saltiness and minerality.

"Our 2017 vintage looks to be very promising indeed, the wines of this year are unique, yet retaining classical Chateau Musar character. Three factors come to our minds, the similarity in style of the different decades ending in 7, the taste of the last vineyard of Cabernet Sauvignon harvested and powerful aromas. It has a bright ruby colour and there are sweet red cherries, mulberries and plums on the nose with a hint of tea tree and liquorice. The tannins are soft and well-integrated and this vintage has good acidity, depth of fruit and a long finish. Cellared well, it will age beautifully for decades."

Chateau Musar first started producing the Musar Jeune range of wines in 2006 from the fruit of low-yielding Bekaa Valley vines at around 1,000 metres above sea level. Altitude keeps the average temperature at 25 ° C with hot sunny days and cool nights and with 300 days of sunshine a year, grapes are ripened to perfection.
Unoaked and made according to Musar’s natural non-interventionist wine-making philosophy, Musar Jeune wines are vibrantly fruity, richly concentrated and the 2016 vintage is no exception.
The 2019 vintage is a blend of Cinsault (50%), selected from vineyards with varying age of vines, Syrah (35%), and Cabernet Sauvignon (15%).
This unoaked wine is wonderfully fresh and full of ripe blueberry fruit. Good acidity keeps the wine vibrant within a medium to full bodied textured palate. The 2019 vintage is fresh and fruity and designed to be enjoyed in its youth.
