Disover Portugal with Lance Foyster MW
Tutored Wine Tasting
Thursday 26th May 6.30pm
Lance Foyster Master of Wine and Portugese wine enthusiast will be hosting a 'Discover Portugal' tutored wine tasting on Thursday 26th May in our shop on Livery Street Jewellery Quarter Jewellery Quarter.
Douro Valley wines made from the same grapes as Port have experienced a renaissance in recent years with modern equipment and techniques enhancing the quality.
In 1982 they received their own Denominacão de Origem Controlada (DOC) – Denomination of Origin – classification over 200 years after Port. The combination of these factors has lead to dynamism in wine production and Douro Valley wines are now exported all over the world often being referred to as the jewel in Portugal’s crown.
Lance will take us through a selection of entirely new wines to Connolly's all sourced from Boutique producers.
The tasting will begin at 6.30pm and tickets are £15 per person. As ever we shall be offering a range of discounts for purchases made at the event.
Tickets are limited and must be booked and paid for in advance.
A fabulous light hearted wine quiz designed to test & improve your wine knowledge! Would you be able to tell a Pinot Grigio from a Soave? A Shiraz from a Rioja? 3 expert panellists will be trying to baffle you into thinking that the wine in front of you is their wine but only one of them is telling truth; Can you work out who?
The ticket price includes the tasting of 9 wines & a Hot Buffet supplied by the wonderful Chefs at The Town House.
£25 per person all inclusive

To celebrate this and to continue in our efforts to promote these great wines we have conspired with Franzls -the best Austrian Restaurant in the West Midlands - to create an Austrian gourmet evening a fantastic opportunity to sample some of the most interesting wines available with the food they were made for.

"Bodega Weinert is producing South America's greatest red wines - the qualitative equals of the finest reds in the world" - Robert Parker!
In 2005 Iduna visited us for the first time and hosted the most successful wine tasting in Connolly’s history. This year she is returning and we hope to repeat that success. Those of you not familiar with the wines or the area will find this tasting informative and enjoyable and we are sure that you will appreciate the wines. Those of you familiar with this estate will simply not want to miss this opportunity.
The tasting shall for the very first time be taking place in Connolly's Cellars under the arches they are located just a couple of streets down from our shop on Livery Street Jewellery Quarter Jewellery Quarter. The cellars obviously maintain a cool temperature for the safe storage of our wines so do come with a cardigan no matter what the weather!
We shall also be offering the option of a two course meal including wine at The Bucklemaker (just across from the arches) after the tasting.
