This Meursault Premier Cru is unconventional. Its aromas are characteristic of clay-limestone soil and in particular, limestone rock subsoil. On the nose you will notice a mix of flint and pure fruit. It is sharp, light and mineral, with a saline finish.Domaine Matrot
Le Clos des Épeneaux
The famous Clos, a magnificent parcel of five hectares, is one of the 10 largest premier or grand cru monopoles of the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits.
Clos des Epeneaux is situated in the heart of the Grands and Petits Epenots. The vines varies between 30 and 80 years, with a density of plantations of 12,000 vines/hectare.
It's separated in 4 units, which are separately vinified.
4 major criteria are distinguished :
Very fruity, exotic fruit (pineapple), acacia blossom, lychee, apricot and peach. Round, full, good length in mouth with a final of vanilla.
"Intense and slightly sappy apricots with dried herbs and subtly spicy notes. The palate has nice, crisp and punchy, melon flavor and quite tight texture. Drink or hold." James Suckling, 92/100
