Brewed once a year on the 6th of December, this strong beer is probably the best known beer from the Schloss Eggenberg brewery, with a large following among the growing number of beer connoisseurs. The very elaborate and long-lasting manufacturing process (10 months in the storage cellar), makes it a real rarity. Samichlaus can age for many years in the bottle, older vintages gain in complexity and get their creamy-warm finish.
With blackberries added to the brewkettle towards the end of the boil and more fresh berries added in the cellar there is a wonderful, sharp tartness to this IPA. The upfront bitterness is countered by the slight sweetness from the berries.
