Black, meaty and appealing on the nose. There are complex aromas of ripe red fruit mixed with notes of wood. The palate is soft and has round, voluptuous tannins resulting in a good balance and fantastic length.
The nose has jasmine tea notes with white pepper held together by a fine sandy structure. On the palate there are bright floral and mineral nuances with a lingeringly spicy, ginger and exotic finish. A hugely and broadly appealing and accessible Gewürz.
Not your thin, lightweight Merlot but rich, vibrant and very more-ish. Typical full-on red berry fruit on the nose (typical of Merlot) which leads through to a rich, vibrant and aromatic palate that swirls with lashings of ripe fruit underpinned by good structure.
The nose is open, generous and spicy. On the palate juicy bramble, cherry fruit and fresh redcurrants dominate. An easy drinking wine where supple tannins are balanced by good acidity and blackberry notes, with a hint of licquorice and black pepper.
A fresh, dry Chenin with broad appeal. It displays classic baked apple and zippy citrus aromas with soft, delicate apple fruit on the palate balanced by crisp acidity. Extended lees contact gives this great value wine some real weight and character, a little wild yeast ferment in barrel adds texture and finesse too
Lush tropical fruit flavours with floral and citrus aromas.
Refreshing and fruity rosé, bursting with aromas of strawberries and raspberries. On the palate the wine is soft and fruity with a light spritz. Nice fresh acidity and a touch of sweetness on the finish.
A vibrant cherry colour, this joven (young, unoaked) wine shows pure varietal fruit character. The colour is an intense red cherry, with a purple rim. The red fruit character is duplicated on the palate, with a wonderful freshness and acidity that provide structure. There is also a nice length to the finish. Would pair very well with cured meats and poultry.
The present Château Les Ragottes dates back to the 19th Century, though evidence has been found of a vineyard going back to the Gallo-Roman period. When the Orsini family first settled here there where only 3 hectares of vines, which over the years has now grown to around 18 hectares.
The wine itself is a beautiful shade of red with tints of garnet, with an expressive nose and good body with well integrated tannins.
