Lady J Syrah, Vrede en Lust 2017

Boet Erasmus was Dana & Etienne Buys', owners of Vrede en Lust, maternal grandfather. He played a major role in their lives and also introduced them to fine wines. It should therefore come as no surprise that the Vrede en Lust flagship red wine was named after this remarkable man.

Very primary on the nose – lifted red and black fruit, tobacco and vanilla plus a little earthiness. Full bodied with pure fruit, bright acidity and fine tannins, the finish long and savory. Poised and understated, this has a good future ahead of it.

Vrede en Lust

This beautiful Rhône-style blend is the newest addition to the Vrede en Lust range. The vineyard development at Vrede en Lust over the past couple of years included the planting of Grenache and Viognier, giving us scope to produce more Rhône-style red wines. The name Côtes de Savoye is a tribute to Jacques de Savoye, the first owner of the property in 1688. In 2002 the first vintage of wine from our farm was labeled as Jacques de Savoye to pay tribute to him, and after 13 years we’ve decided to return to our roots with this release. The 2014 vintage was awarded a double gold medal at the 2016 National Wine Challenge. An elegantly styled wine with aromas of violets, concentrated red fruit followed through with a soft, juicy palate and well-rounded tannins.
