Cherries, Brettanomyces, tartness and tannins all jostle for attention in this incredibly balanced sour ale. Upfront notes of rich, juicy and boozy cherries are underpinned by notes of Kirsch and Brett funk with the influence of wood from foeder aging in hand-picked Italian barrels that used to house Sangiovese red wine from the Emelia Romagna region balancing the acidity and juicy cherry character.Brewdog
The bright gold Augustiner Edelstoff has understated notes of cut grass, herbs, and sweet malts that are balanced by a moderate bitterness. Its light body and delicate carbonation lead to a smooth mouthfeel that still finds a way of being crisp and lingering with a fantastically clean finish.
A straw-coloured bitter which initially seems sweet, but a complex dry, hoppy taste soon predominates.
Probably the best example of the traditional Black Country style of bitter. No better partner to a lunchtime snack!Batham's Brewery
