Connolly’s team of enthusiastic and entertaining wine professionals, offer a range of events to suit almost any occasion or budget. From light hearted wine tastings to gourmet dinners. Whether you are entertaining clients, arranging a team-building event or organising the company AGM, Connolly’s can help.
Have you ever wondered why people rave about New Zealand white wines or Australian Shiraz? Or how to choose a decent Chablis? Or what makes single malt whiskies so special? In short would you like to increase your knowledge and enjoyment of wines and spirits? Connolly’s run a programme of tutored tastings which aim to do just that. Here is how they work - on each occasion we feature the wines of a particular producer or region. Each guest has (usually) eight samples to taste. Our speaker will be an expert on the wines concerned and will talk briefly about each wine as you sample it. We also provide tailor-made tastings for your corporate or social function. These may be either a formal presentation of a range of wines from a specific region or a light-hearted games or quiz evening. The tasting can take place at your offices if you have space, at our premises on Livery Street (charges apply and dates are limited) or at our new Tasting room in our shop on Dovehouse Parade Solihull. Alternatively we can arrange dinners and event space with one of our many partners across Birmignham and Solihill.

Learn to taste like a professional £15 - £30 per person
(minimum 15 people)
Are you interested in learning a little more about the wonderful world of wine? Are you bemused by the vast array of labels on offer? Do you always 'play safe' and order what you know?
During this relaxed and light-hearted event, we'll teach you how to taste, what to look for, de-bunk a few myths and theories, and open you and your guests minds to the myriad of tastes, smells and flavours available.
Tutored Tastings £15 - £30 (minimum 15 people)
These can be organised on almost any given theme and priced to suit your budget. Recent offerings include providing an understanding as to why 8 different Burgundies from the same vintage should taste so different or a comparison of 8 Chardonnays from around the world. These are relatively formal affairs but are as well suited to an audience seeking a few clues when doing the weekly shopping as they are to a group of wine aficionados wishing to compare 8 vintages of Chateau Margaux.
The Connolly's Challenge £20 - £35 (minimum 20 people)
Taste 8 wines centred around 1 or 2 themes (Italian Whites/Australian Reds, Sauvignon Blanc/Pinot Noir etc) learn a little as to the background of each wine and then launch into a "no-holds barred" competition, re-tasting all eight wines from unmarked bottles to see how many of the eight you can identify.
Call My Bluff/ Who's Wine is it Anyway £45 + (minimum 30 people)
Compared by professional Birmingham based comedian Craig Deely, with Connolly's own experts taking on the role of the panellists. For each wine tasted one of the panellists will be telling the truth whilst the other two will be lying through their teeth, whilst entertaining your clients with tales of the unexpected! It is your guest's mission to guess who is telling the truth and who isn't. The Call My Bluff quiz starts from around £45 per head.
Simply Networking £25 -£40 (minimum 30 people)
This consists of a series of tables around the room with an expert at each one to guide your guest through the wines as they make their way round in their own time. This can be based around any theme you wish. This particular style of tasting gives your guests the chance to mingle and network without interruption. As this is a less formal event the quantities of wine tend to be higher and costs start at around £25 per head but can be worked out after the tasting based on the consumption.
(Prices quoted exclude VAT)
Don't forget if you have a smaller group of staff or clients who you think would enjoy such an event, Connolly's run tutored events every month often with the winemaker themselves. You can always book your smaller group into one of these events. If you would like to be sent details of these events please contact us and we will add you to our mailing list.
